RE: Long Travel and water

Maybe I was misleading and wasnt to clear on my last post.
We keep the fresh water tank full whether we are using the MH or not.
I do change it every couple of months and disinfect the tank when we change the water.

RE: "Amateur" vs/ "Professional" RV'ers

I ve notice several people on the road with trailers that have the safety chains connected in a straight fashion.
By that I mean the chains arent crossed in an X under the hitch.
Iv always connected any trailer Iv pulled in this fashion simply for the fact that if, for some reason, the hitch should fail, what is going to stop the tongue from digging itself into the pavement?
Does this make sense?

RE: Sewer Y drain swiveling

The valves on our 05 Monaco dont swivel but the gray vales sometimes leaks when the cover is removed.
May have to replace gasket inside.

RE: Rent vs. buy - class C MH

IMHO, if you have never stayed in an RV before, it makes sense to rent.
This way you could try it to see and find out if you like it.
If you deciede that you like the RV life style, then look into buying one.
If you buy one, I think you ll find yourself going out more than just 4 weeks during the summer.

RE: Long Travel and water

Given the fact that we do live in earthquake country, it makes sense to us to keep the water tank full just in case of an emergency.
Black and grey tank empty, fuel and water full.

RE: Trie protectant

Click on the post that rv2go made and it takes you to the 303 site.
Click on dealer locator. you can find where to get it close to you.
I just got some and am going to be using it on mine.
I also went to Harbor Freight and got tire covers for the MH.
THe covers were on sale for 10 bucks if I remember correctly.

RE: experience with Geico rv insurance?

We have been with Geico for some time and are very pleased with the service.
When we got our MH, I called to see what the additional cost would be.
We got a quote from the company the dealer recommended. Called Geico and asked what it would be to add the MH to our existing policy.
Was told it would be twice what the dealer recommended company quoted just for the MH.
We went with the dealer company which is Progeressive.

RE: How much does it cost

The main thing I keep track of is what the fuel cost for the trip so I can figure that in on the next one.
Also figure the cost of where we are going to be staying.
The last trip we made, I figured that the cost of the site we were at was better than half of what it would have cost us for a motel.

RE: Does anyone use a "Y" adapter for 2 water hoses?

Iv got a brass one I got from Loews.
I use one side for the water supply to the coach and the other side for the black tank cleaner.

Banks Question

For those members who have done it, Id like to know what your impression of Banks kits are for an E 450 chassis with the V 10.
Is it worth the money and how much better does the rig perform with it installed?
Thanks.

RE: newbie, green as grass, scared to death

The subject of tire age was mentioned in a previous post.
Id like to mention that when we got our MH in May, I checked the tires after having washed it for the first time.
I found the tires were made the 23 week of 04.
They still had very good tread on them but were starting to weather crack on the sidewalls.
The rig now has a new set of Michelin LT 225/75 X 16's Load range E under it running @ 80 # pressure.
They ran a little more than 1000 bucks.

RE: windshield sunshades

When we got our MH, I got a windshield sun blocker in Jumbo size from the local auto parts store.
The pic that shows in my sig is what it looks like.
This particular one just covers the windshield and I think your looking for one that will cover the complete cab area.
As for the tire cover question, I went to Harbor freight and got a set of covers for around 10 bucks.
They seem to do a good job so far.
Hope this helps.

RE: DirecTV Locals while Traveling

From what I understood from the installer that did mine, you contact the customer service and inform them that you have relocated to whatever zipcode your at and they should take care of it from their end.
Hope this helps.

RE: Monaco Plant Closings

When we bought our Monaco in May, it came with almost all the manuals in a box I keep in a cabinet.
Ours is an 05 model.
The only thing I didnt have was the specs on the coach itself. Engine, trans, etc.
Went to the Monaco site and was able to download everything I needed.
Even got how the thing is put together.
